Speaking of polticians taking bribes...

Just saw this on the Economist today, I think its interesting to note two things; the first being that in comparison to other Western countries the U.S. is pretty bad, only Italy and France are worse. Secondly, with 12% of corporate executives saying that US firms frequently bribe high-ranking politicians, the recent instances of shadiness in Alaska and now Illinois are only unusual in the sense that we found out about them.

It's funny because in a lot of countries it's both common and expected to offer a bribe in exchange for something (in terms of business). It's crazy to hear about bribes taking place in the US government or business place because it's corrupted to us, but what happens when the US does business with other countries that expect a bribe or vice versa? Do you offer a bribe to get whats wanted or choose not too based on laws or'morals'? hmm...
