"Merely thinking about something is not a crime"

Is the case against Blagojevich as strong as we think?

Great post, an interesting case for a number of reasons. The quote at the end though is somewhat dubious, thinking and talking about doing something can be illegal. If that talking concerns something that is illegal, and the talking between parties can be construed to be an agreement to do something illegal in the future, that talking is the definition of conspiracy.

yeah, good post. i like this case because it outlines the type of backdoor schemery that probably happens 100 times a day around washington...i also think it's funny how conservatives tried to link obama to the "culture of corruption" when in fact obama asked whatever his name is to appoint a woman and his response was "fuck him (obama)" i imagine obama may have had more of a hand in bagging this guy rather than corroborating with him..

ah yes, of course. i.e. the "conspiracy to distribute" like so many people get in trouble for with drugs.
