plymouth state university made playboy's annual top ten party schools for the second time in its illustrious career.

"It’s been more than 20 years since PSU made our list, but this New Hampshire institution of higher learning is back. Four things students dig are skiing, skiing, studying and smoking pot on the lake. Welcome back to the party."

this gave me an excuse to post me and willy's politics and art project circa spring 2008:

you make the call part rivera 13!

L.A. County Sheriff's detectives said the tattoo on Anthony Garcia's chest included key details from the scene of a liquor store murder that puzzled them for four years. (Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department)

"The process was routine. L.A. County Sheriff's homicide investigator Kevin Lloyd was flipping through snapshots of tattooed gang members.

Then one caught his attention.

Inked on the pudgy chest of a young Pico Rivera gangster who had been picked up and released on a minor offense was the scene of a 2004 liquor store slaying that had stumped Lloyd for more than four years.

Each key detail was right there: the Christmas lights that lined the roof of the liquor store where 23-year-old John Juarez was gunned down, the direction his body fell, the bowed street lamp across the way and the street sign — all under the chilling banner of RIVERA KILLS, a reference to the gang Rivera-13.

As if to seal the deal, below the collarbone of the gang member known by the alias "Chopper" was a miniature helicopter raining down bullets on the scene."

whole story here!

so, is he just a common idiot or some self mutilating performance artist?

as always, you make the call!!!!!!!!!

Spoils: Extraordinary Harvest

UNH homie Alex Mallis is asking for post-production funding donations for a documentary about dumpster diving he's submitting to film festivals. If you got any spare cash and want to hook Mallis up on his way up in the film business, donate here. If you don't have any money to donate, you should probably watch the documenary when it comes out, because you might learn something about a good resource of free food.

love the spring

the trees are already budding down and here in virginia and the IceCoast KillsShit boys from New York have dropped a sick spring edit. watching this makes me pretty bummed i didnt get out at all this winter but also happily reminds me old man winter is likely gone for another 7 or 8 months. even though ive mostly been in santa cruz where seasons only lightly make their presence known, ive been back east enough to know how much of a downer winter can be. i really enjoy this time of year when everything turns green in a flash and life and activity returns to the outside world.

bonaroo buzz?

first off, whoever owns the copyrights to the california raisins franchise should fucking sue because those coffee beans are wearing sunglasses and having too much fun.

second, this is lame. bonaroo sucks and at one point ben and jerry's didn't suck but now maybe they suck.

third, galatic officially sucks.

vice blew it... signed a deal in the "high eight figures"...

“Well, I’m in bed right now. So I’m taking the day off, is how I’m celebrating,” Shane Smith drawled into the telephone Tuesday, soon after it was announced that his Vice Media had formed an investment partnership with former Viacom CEO Tom Freston; Joe Ravitch, and Jeff Sine of media merchant bank The Raine Group; and advertising behemoth WPP’s Sir Martin Sorrell.

Oh, and Vice also has new representation: Hollywood superagent Ari Emanuel of William Morris Endeavor Entertainment."

Fake massage parlor inspector pleads not guilty

"NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – A former police officer has pleaded not guilty to showing up at a Southern California massage parlor wearing a badge and a gun and demanding a free rubdown and cash for his "inspection" of the business.

Edward Justin LaPorte — who is accused of posing as an inspector — got a 30-minute backrub, police say. He then is accused of requesting a frontal massage and $200.

The manager of the Golden Spa was suspicious about the supposed quality-control check and called Lake Forest licensing offices.

LaPorte, 47, left when a real inspector arrived and started asking questions, police say. LaPorte then allegedly fled and was tracked down by his license plate number."

Anneliese Michel

Stumbled across this video while trying to research the title of an alien invaders movie that used to scare me when I was a kid. I guess the "body snatchers" search tag shares similar meaning with demonic possession. This girl was the subject of one of the most famous exorcism cases in history. I cannot guarantee that it is real, but it definitely gave me the shivers. I guess they based the movies The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Requiem on her story. By the way the movie I was searching for turned out to be the 1986 Remake of Invaders from Mars (see below).

Curveball

Saw this 60 minutes interview a while back with the Iraqi informant known as "Curveball" who was apparently the primary source for the Bush administration's claim of WMDs in Iraq. It's a pretty remarkable interview, the guy's ears are leaking shit.

Exit Through the Giftshop

Saw this recently... it chronicles street artist Banksy and some of his cohorts working on some really inspiring early footage. The film is the subject of some controversy regarding the legitimacy of Thierry Guetta, the obsessive tape recording Frenchmen whom the film chronicles. Watch it, keeping in mind the contrast of conventional gallery art and street art and scam scam scam! I personally think Thierry is Banksy's genius character he dreamed up to totally dupe art snobs into spending way too much money on artwork valued purely on relative hype.

Genius
