wow. funny how i didn't hear a single shithead claim bush pandered to hispanics by replacing the whitest guy on the planet, john ashcroft, with roberto gonzales.

bush was praised by both sides of the shit-spectrum for appointing people like rice, powell and gonzales..

i wish the republicans would relax here. it's not like Sonia Sotomayor is another robert bork:

Crusades 2003

It's depressing that I wasn't that shocked to see this was going on.

Although, as someone on the chatbox complained about our lack of criticism for Obama, foreign policy I suppose is certainly something worth criticism. There are no solid plans to end the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and no hope in sight to finally stand up to Israel. Granted there are probably no biblical quotes on daily briefings in the Obama White House, but the fact is that healing wounds with the Middle East has been all talk and no action.

when your names goes from "richard" to "dick" you do stuff like this...

*Two U.S. intelligence officers confirm that Vice President Cheney’s office suggested waterboarding an Iraqi prisoner, a former intelligence official for Saddam Hussein, who was suspected to have knowledge of a Saddam-al Qaeda connection.

*The former chief of the Iraq Survey Group, Charles Duelfer, in charge of interrogations, tells The Daily Beast that he considered the request reprehensible.

*Much of the information in the report of the 9/11 Commission was provided through more than 30 sessions of torture of detainees.

Remy Out Indefinitely

NESN announced Wednesday that Red Sox color commentator Jerry Remy is taking an indefinite leave of absence to fully recover from the effects of cancer surgery. “I want to focus on completing my recovery so that I can return to work without distractions or interruptions,” said Remy, a former smoker who underwent surgery for lung cancer late last year. Remy expected a more immediate return but suffered a setback due to an infection and subsequent case of pneumonia. He now hopes his experience serves as a cautionary tale about the adverse health effects of smoking.

Red Sox studio analyst and Hall of Fame pitcher Dennis Eckersley will join Don Orsillo in the booth during the remainder of the team’s current home stand that ends May 8. Studio analyst Dave Roberts, the former Red Sox outfielder and postseason hero, will provide color commentary during the team’s subsequent West Coast road trip that ends May 17. No decision has been made yet about who will join Orsillo in the booth beyond that date.

Get well soon Rem. Eck and Dave Roberts should be interesting on color.

Yaddah at your Governor

NH may legalize medical marijuana and gay marriage, as long as Governor Lynch signs them into law. Both bills have passed the house and senate, and all they need are his signature. Call him at (603) 271-2121 and tell his office that you support both bills.

Hannity's Defining Moment

Manny Tests Positive

Major League Baseball announced Thursday that Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez has been suspended for 50 games for violating its drug policy. Ramirez's test result was first reported by The Los Angeles Times. Scott Boras, Ramirez's agent, told ESPN's Peter Gammons that his client did not test positive for steroids, but for a drug that was prescribed by a doctor for a medical condition. Triple-A outfielder Xavier Paul has been told by the Dodgers that he will be promoted later today, according to The Times. Ramirez would be eligible to return to the Dodgers' lineup for their July 3 game against San Diego. In his first full season as a Dodger, Ramirez is batting .348 with six home runs and 20 RBIs. Los Angeles has bolted to a 21-8 record -- best in the majors -- and a 13-0 record at home that set the modern major league record for home winning streak to start a season.

Damn, unless it really was just a drug prescribed for a recent "medical condition," Manny was probably juicing during his Sox years. At least now he can blame shoving down a 60 year old Sox secretary on 'roid rage.

The intricate 40 year old virgin vibe of his room means this is either a legit future serial killer/pedophile/sad, sad human being or an elaborate internet persona.

You make the call.

Bring your jerseys with your 'staches

B-Ball this Friday at the Toast.

oh mitt...

Mitt Romney Pictures, Images and Photos

ROMNEY: I frankly believe that much of what happened in the last election revolved around the fact that the economy fell apart at the time we were, if you will, holding the hot potato. Republicans and Democrats have been playing this game, passing the hot the potato, spending money like there was no tomorrow.

And the economy came crashing down while our party was holding the hot potato. And people said, hey, it's time for something else but I think if they took a good, hard look at what the -- something else is planning on doing with regards to the massive borrowing, they are going to say, that is probably not the right thing for America's future.

Moustache Day #1

Today I have a Moustache

Weare NH Stand Up

One of the interesting things about Souter's annoucement to step down is that a prime reason for him doing so is to return to the 603. The way the national press always frames NH and his decision is pretty hilarious. From the WSJ Law Blog;

A story in Monday’s NYT takes a look at the town he longs to return to — Weare, N.H., a simple and unadorned place. “A lot of people would live up here and hate it,” said Wilbur A. Glahn, a lawyer who has known Justice Souter since 1975. “But David has got a real love for the people and the land and the simple things here. I’m not sure I know a lot of people who are more connected to a place than he is. It’s a very strong, kind of visceral feeling that he has.” In this Washington Post story, folks in Weare report that Souter may someday write a history of the town.

Makin' Babies

Contrary to popular belief, birth rates have risen in northern Europe and the United States in recent years and fallen across much of Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. In fact, the fertility rate in the United States is at its highest level since 1971. In contrast, China’s birth rate has fallen so significantly that, “In 2050, according to United Nations projections, it is possible that nearly as many babies will be born in the United States as in China. - Freakonomics
